We are here and it feels great! Daniel will continue his recovery on Maui, in fact it has already begun as we keep him on a schedule that reflects his rehab in Oahu with physical training 3
xs a day, and using materials to keep his mind
challenged until we get him in a routine over here. One thing we bought him is a DS (like game boy) it has a game called "Brain Age" try it - it will totally discourage you! Speech and Language Therapy is the main one that was
recommended to
pursue but he is still working on balance and range of motion issues so that will also be addressed. When we got off the plane Tuesday our limo driver Kalani and Caitlin were waiting for us. First we stopped by Hope Chapel to see a few friends and then we went home to be greeted by a "Welcome Home Daniel" sign in the driveway and our mutt Maggie at the door. Inside Chris's Bunko Babes had a basket of gifts waiting for us, Dio had made some food with soup on the stove and the table already set and Cait, Yuko and Shelly had the place looking pretty clean! Jackie and Jori pitching in as well. That first night here Daniel was up to going to a small bible study with some friends and last night while I was at worship practice he and Caitlin (after he took a 3 hour power nap) went to Calvary Chapel for their Wednesday night service. Everyone has been very encouraging to him and he is so excited to be back.
For the sake of keeping family and some friends updated we will continue this blog for perhaps a couple more weeks, but we want to express again how faithful our Lord Jesus is, our dependency on him for whatever life throws at us and the gratitude of all of you who believe in prayer to come alongside. Answered prayer does truly glorify God and demonstrates his love, concern and presence in our lives!
Thank You to the "comment crowd", I have read many of those to Daniel and Chris and they are a boost. LuLu, Liza, Cari. Dio, Makena, Joyce and Jesse etc. you know who you are! Thank You.
Also Chris wants me to say a big "blanket" mahalo to all who have been there in practical ways doing errands, bringing food, financially assisting us, calling to see how's it going, sending cards, etc, etc, until we can properly thank you! Our God is Awesome..The Maucks
